#RoadToBOA2018 – Uncured

As ever, we’re going to try and cover every single Jäger, New Blood and SOPHIE stage band before Bloodstock kicks off on August 9th. Your chance to check them out and start planning which bands to get there early for!

Trust us when we tell you that this is bound to result in some frustrating clashes because, as ever, there are some great bands on these three stages.

Our thanks to all the bands for taking the time out to answer our questions!

Uncured – Sophie Lancaster Stage, Sunday

Simple things first – where are you guys from?

Uncured is from New York City, USA.

How long have you been playing together as a band?

Uncured released its first record Medusa in March 2017 and we have been touring ever since.

Where does the name of the band come from?

The world is a generally unhappy place, and very few people are satisfied with their life, careers or relationships. The name “Uncured” represents the unhealthy state of the human condition. Our songs, in turn, are about seeing the world and life more clearly, and asserting independence regardless of the oppression around you.

Describe your music. What makes you unique?

Uncured is sometimes characterized by its technical writing style and harsh vocals – so the easy answer is “death metal”. However, Uncured’s music also has big metal grooves and a 70s funk vibe that keeps fans guessing and moving. Our combination of relentless brutality and groovy riffs makes Uncured unique.

What’s your live show like? Why are people going to watch you instead of another band?

Uncured combines pure energy with precision. We play massive breakdowns that always drive everyone into the pit. Plus, our guitar solos need to be seen to be believed. Everyone who sees Uncured becomes a fan.

Have you played Bloodstock before? If so, when?

It’s Uncured’s first time at Bloodstock and in the UK.

How/when did you find out that you’d be playing the SOPHIE stage?

Uncured is touring Europe with JASTA, and Jamey Jasta himself hooked us up with this gig. Playing Bloodstock is a dream come true for a band touring on its first album!

What sort of setlist can we expect?

The Uncured set will be straight-up festival brutality. Get in the pit and go crazy.

Which other band do you most hope you’re not clashing with so you can see them play?

We will only be at Bloodstock on Sunday. We play in the second slot on the Sophie stage, so we will be able to see all of the amazing bands on the main stage. We toured with DevilDriver, and we are psyched to see our friends live again.

What are you working on at the moment?

After our tour of Europe with JASTA, Uncured will tour North America with Arch Enemy and Goatwhore. After that, Uncured heads into the studio to record our second record.

What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?

Both of Uncured’s guitar players, Zak and Rex Cox, play epic solos during our shows. The guys sometimes climb up the cab stacks and even play solos in the centre of the pit!

Jäger, Hobgoblin Ale, Red Bull, Kingstone Press Cider, Kaltenberg Beer or Bulleit Bourbon? And, yes, we’ll be counting all the votes!

Uncured is all about playing shows and working-out. Bring on the Red Bull baby!
