#RoadToBOA2018 – Bleed From Within

As ever, we’re going to try and cover every single Jäger, New Blood and SOPHIE stage band before Bloodstock kicks off on August 9th. Your chance to check them out and start planning which bands to get there early for!

Trust us when we tell you that this is bound to result in some frustrating clashes because, as ever, there are some great bands on these three stages.

Our thanks to all the bands for taking the time out to answer our questions!

Bleed From Within – Sophie Lancaster Stage, Friday

Simple things first – where are you guys from?

We are based in and around Glasgow, Scotland. The band started at a small youth club in Hamilton, a small town on the outskirts of the city.

How long have you been playing together as a band?

We’ve been a band since 2005, so 13 years. Sometimes I forget, then I get asked a question like this and it all comes back to haunt me. We’ve spent over half our life jamming in various bands, but Bleed From Within is at the heart of it all.

Where does the name of the band come from?

In recent years, I’ve been telling people that it’s a nod to the effort and passion that goes into everything we do. But truth be told, it’s just a metal sounding name that stood out to us when we were 16 years old.

Describe your music. What makes you unique?

Our latest release, ERA, is the album that defines us best. There aren’t any gimmicks, we aren’t pretending to be anyone else. Our sound is unique because we’ve stopped looking outside for inspiration and started listening more to each other and what we want to hear/play. Listen for yourself and make your decision.

What’s your live show like? Why are people going to watch you instead of another band?

At the time that we play, we don’t clash with any other bands. So I’d like to think it’s a no-brainer for people looking to get the most out of their Bloodstock experience. Grab a beer and get over to the Sophie Lancaster stage on Friday night at 20:00 for your fill of hair swinging groove metal. You will not regret it.

Have you played Bloodstock before? If so, when?

This is our first time at Bloodstock and we are very excited about bringing our music to the festival. We’ll be giving it our all.

How/when did you find out that you’d be playing the SOPHIE stage?

Our agent contacted us a few months back with the offer. Again, it’s our first time playing so we snapped it up. Very excited to play.

What sort of setlist can we expect?

We’ll be playing a lot of tracks from our latest album ERA, with a nod to some earlier albums also. A varied selections of songs that’ll provide the perfect soundtrack to your headbang. Guaranteed.

Which other band do you most hope you’re not clashing with so you can see them play?

Theres a number of bands we hope to see over the weekend; Gojira, Ingested, Feed The Rhino, Septic Flesh, At The Gates and Conjurer.

What are you working on at the moment?

We are putting a new album together whilst we work on getting more tours for 2018/2019. We are also in the process of brewing our own beer that we’ll have with us at Bloodstock. Very excited to share the making process with everyone.

What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?

I watched Kennedy (our singer) ‘stone cold stunner’ someone on stage during a headline show in Peterborough … the guy actually nominated himself to be on the receiving end of the move. All a bit daft.

Jäger, Hobgoblin Ale, Red Bull, Kingstone Press Cider, Kaltenberg Beer or Bulleit Bourbon? And, yes, we’ll be counting all the votes!

Being from Scotland and being seasoned drinkers, we buy three drinks when we visit the bar. In this case, that would be a Jäger with a Bulliet Bourbon and coke chaser, then a Hobgoblin Ale for good measure. Cheers!
