Bloodstock 2017 Interview: Trendkill

Prior their performance on the Jäger Stage on the Friday at Bloodstock, we had a quick chat with a couple of the members of Trendkill about how the band developed out of YouTube videos and how they ended up playing on the Jäger Stage. Read on for the full interview…

You’re playing the Jäger Stage a little later on. Are you looking forward to it?

Of course we are. There’s no nerves at all and it’s the biggest opportunity we’ve had so far. Fair enough it’s the Jäger Stage, but it’s at Bloodstock. We aren’t complaining at all! The beauty of it as well is that we aren’t really clashing with anyone so people waiting for Testament can come over to watch us.

How did you guys find out you were playing?

We competed in Metal 2 The Masses in Newcastle. We came second to a band called Decrepit Monolith who were a black metal band but Simon said to us afterwards “You guys are class. How do you fancy playing the Jäger Stage?” And of course, we all jumped for joy and the man hugs came out.

Is it true that the band developed out of a YouTube video series?

Yes it is. People wanted more videos out and we decided to record our general nonsense. It give a sort of human side to what you wouldn’t see in bands and basically shows that we are four guys that get along and have a laugh. You don’t see that a lot these days.

Kraken, Hobgoblin or Jäger?

Hobgoblin. If it’s cold.

Describe the band in 3 words.

Thrash, groove combo or “we are mint”.
