#ROADTOBOA2017 – GURT

As ever, we’re going to try and cover every single Jäger, New Blood and SOPHIE stage band before Bloodstock kicks off on August 10th. Your chance to check them out and start planning which bands to get there early for!

Trust us when we tell you that this is bound to result in some frustrating clashes because, as ever, there are some great bands on these three stages.

Our thanks to all the bands for taking the time out to answer our questions!

GurtSophie Lancaster Stage, Thursday

Simple things first – where are you guys from?

London and its surroundings.

How long have you been playing together as a band?

Seven years as a band but with Godfrey as the only original. Reginald and Tarquin are about five years and Ulrich three years.

Where does the name of the band come from?

Godfrey, Ulrich, Reginald and Tarquin… done!

Describe your music. What makes you unique?

Wearing our influences on our sleeves: grunge, funk, nu-metal, sludge, and doom.

What’s your live show like? Why are people going to watch you instead of another band?

We are the only band on at that time on Thursday night so it’s watch our amazing blend of party doom or sleep in a pile of your own vomit!

Have you played Bloodstock before? If so, when?

Yep, in 2014 and it was the best show ever for us and for the festival.

How/when did you find out that you’d be playing the SOPHIE stage?

During a really boring senior sales meeting at work when we were being told about redundancies, it brightened up the day somewhat!

What sort of setlist can we expect?

A half hour of UK heavy rock hits… with old and new!!

Which main stage band do you most hope you’re not clashing with so you can see them play?

GHOST!!!!

You’ve recently released the excellent Skullossus, but what are you working on at the moment?

We are already on to our next project and Skullossus was only released 2 months ago. It is a world apart from what we have done and a lot of fun.

What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done on tour?

A man shitting in a cup!

Finally: Jager, Hobgoblin Ale, Kraken, Kingstone Press Cider, Kaltenberg Beer or Bulleit Bourbon? And, yes, we’ll be counting all the votes!

None of the above, Cerne Abbas brewery GURT Stout all the way!!
