Here we go again… Last year we covered every band on the Hobgoblin New Blood and Jagermeister stages in the run-up to Bloodstock 2015. This year, we’re going one better and aim to have interviews from all the bands on those two stages as well as all of those on the SOPHIE stage prior to the event kicking off on August 11th. That’s almost 100 interviews to get online for you lucky people over the course of the next couple of weeks. I bloody love this job, but you lot owe me a beer at Catton Hall, right?
Thanks to all the bands who’ve taken the time to respond!
Redeye Revival – Hobgoblin New Blood stage, Friday
Simple things first – where are you guys from?
Leeds!
How did you meet?
By being dirty moshers at school of course.
How long have you been playing together as a band?
We played our first show in July 2015, it’s been a good year.
Where does the name of the band come from?
The Revival part has to do with us playing in bands together over the last 10 years and a nod to the thrash revival. And we wrote these songs while we were high as fuck, hence the RedEye.
What are your influences – individually or as a band?
Anything that excited us, we never set out to achieve a certain sound – our thrash base is what happened naturally when we started writing.
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
Relentless, after playing live we quickly realised why other bands use breaks, clean & slow sections, its knackering if you don’t! Our songs are our stories too, they’re entirely unique to us because they’re about shit we get up to / have done.
What’s your live show like – why should the baying hordes troop over to the stage you’re playing on to watch you?
We can only assume everyone’s going to be feeling like shit after the wild Thursday night (hopefully we won’t) so come wake up and get your party going; Friday morning on the New Blood Stage. Swap your headaches for headbanging and your vomit for circle pits!
When/how did you find out you’d been selected to play at Bloodstock?
We won this years Metal 2 The Masses in Burnley, so we found out by Rob Bannister yelling it down a microphone. It was an incredible moment and made for the mother of all hangovers. Especially for Paul.
What sort of setlist can we expect?
Fast, heavy and something entirely new for Bloodstock.
Which main stage band do you most hope you’re not clashing with so you can see them play?
Not worried about the mainstage clash, the line up is excellent so it’s always going to be with someone good. I really hope we’re not clashing with our pals in The Hyena Kill over on the Jager Stage, 2 piece savagery.
What are you working on at the moment?
We just released our new EP ‘Raise Hell, No Regrets’ and have been gigging all over the UK leading up to Bloodstock. After this we’ve got some more amazing shows to announce and some new material to work on.
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done on tour?
Are you trying to get us arrested Iain?
What advice would you give to a young band just starting out today?
Take a heroic dose of mushrooms and figure it out.
If you could be part of any 3-band line-up who else would you have on the bill?
Of bands playing Bloodstock this year? Would definitely have to be Anthrax, RedEye Revival and I suppose Slayer could open up for us.
What stage / time are you playing at Bloodstock (if you have your slot yet!)
Not sure of the exact time, early judging by the line up. New Blood Stage, Friday morning. Set your alarms, pre-roll your joints, crack some beers and get the fuck on over!
