Interview: Erik A.K. of Flotsam & Jetsam

Flotsam and Jetsam - No Place for Disgrace album cover 192First of all, apologies for the delay. In addition to my usual crazy working hours, I’ve had a variety of unexpected engagements since the gig hence the delay in getting my articles related to the gig online. The gig review will follow as soon as possible.

Last Wednesday was a day I was really looking forward to. Once I heard that thrash legends Flotsam and Jetsam were coming to Scotland for the first time, I got straight onto Mosh about trying to score an interview. When the confirmation from Metal Blade records came through I couldn’t wait.

Within a few moments of arriving at the venue, Stereo (in Glasgow), the tour manager approached me with Flotsam and Jetsam frontman Eric A.K. to have a wee chat before the gig. We spoke about how the current tour has been going so far, the band’s latest releases, changes within the band over the years, their thoughts on the changes they’ve witnessed in the metal scene over the years, and finally their future plans (maybe even including a little Moshville Times exclusive to look forward to!).

Special thanks to Eric for his time – if you’re reading this, you were a cool guy and if F&J return to Glasgow Moshville and I would love to chat with you and the band again. Thanks also go to tour manager Marcel van Der Vliet for helping sort out the interview and Andy Turner at Metal Blade for organising the interview. Cheers guys, hope you enjoyed your time in the UK and Glasgow and I hope you enjoy the rest of the current tour and have a safe and pleasant journey home!
