[avatar user=”Sean” size=”50″ align=”left” /]Last Saturday (14/03/2015) was quite a special night. For the first time in their 30 year history, L.A. Thrash legends Hirax made their live debut in the UK. I caught up with the guys before their awesome set (review of the gig to follow this article shortly) at Glasgow’s Ivory Blacks.

We had a cool chat about the band’s appearance at UK Metal Hammer’s Hammerfest in Wales the night before, their expectations for their first ever headline tour in the UK, their new album Immortal Legacy, their history, the changes they’ve seen in metal over the years and their place in the metal scene today, their future plans, and their guitarist’s new obsession with a particular Welsh pastime – let’s just say that whenever Hirax return to Scotland, it’d be best to keep them away from Aberdeen. Lock up your fields farmers! Just kidding, no offence to the people of Wales and Aberdeen.

Many thanks to Katon, Lance, Steve and Mike of Hirax for their time, a great interview and awesome gig. You guys are really cool and hopefully Moshville and I can catch up with you guys again in the future. Enjoy the rest of the tour!

Special thanks to tour manager Jez Silcock of Sick Fish Touring for arranging the interview. Cheers man!

Hirax play their last date of their UK tour tonight in The Black Heart in Camden Town, London before heading off to tour in Europe through the remainder of March to April and then July. Shows include Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Spain, Italy, Slovakia, Germany, the Czech Republic, Poland, Switzerland, Slovenia and Austria. Tour dates in the Scandinavian countries following those above are to be confirmed.
