Reading based indie band, Third Lung, have been snowballing a UK following on the live circuit so rapidly, that the snowball is now close to the size of a boulder – and Marquee Records have taken notice! Snapped-up by the label earlier this year, Third Lung now announce their debut release on Marquee Records – and it’s mammoth! Third Lung’s reimagination of the iconic AC/DC track “It’s A Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock n Roll)” is out now.
After relocating to London in 1976, AC/DC were well known stalwarts of The Marquee Club during that year, with “It’s A Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock n Roll)” being a firm favourite in their Marquee Club live set list, years before the track ever hit the UK chart. When Third Lung shook on their deal with Marquee Records in Spring 2023, it was suggested that the band consider reigniting the almighty sentiment of the Marquee Club’s glory days, by debuting to the label with a 2023 re-working of that iconic AC/DC track. Third Lung didn’t need to be asked twice, and their reworking of “It’s A Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock n Roll)” quickly followed. Produced by Michael Smith of RYP Studios, the track stays true to the core essence of the original, with a hint of Third Lung breathed into the song for 2023 audiences.
Signing to Marquee Records it felt right for us to tip the hat to our heroes, who were famous for playing the Marquee Club back in the day.
