“Love Potion Number 9” is the third single of the singer Erika Grapes, released this year. The song is a horror-surf cover of the super classic “Love Potion No. 9”, originally interpreted by The Clovers in 1959.
Erika Grapes’ “Love Potion Number 9” is an uptempo track, with spooky and retrò atmospheres and a “solo of ghosts” created vocally. The lyrics are fun and light and talk about a love potion prepared by a witch in order to help the protagonist to become lucky in love.
Produced and played by Andrea Castelli (Kosmodromo, Shandon, FireWater), this new version of Love Potion Number 9 is inspired by the pop imagery around magic of the 50s and 60s. On this song, Grapes sings in a completely different and new style, if compared to her previous, delicate singles “Nothing’s Gonna Hurt You Baby” and “Falling Inside Out”.
