We all know that Beethoven’s favorite works include Mozart’s Requiem, Handel’s Messiah, and Bon Jovi’s Slippery When Wet. So now it’s time for a metal take on one of his own works which should have him headbanging in his grave.
Japan’s Gyze aren’t the first to tackle a genuinely “classic” cover – The Great Kat has made a career of it – but this death metal styles take on what is primarily a piano piece is impressively complex. Check out Wilhelm Kempff battering it out on the ivories. Incredible.
So sit back, chill out… then realise that Beethoven frickin’ rocked. All he needed was an amp.
