Classic Covers: Acid Drinkers – Love Shack

[avatar user=”Sean” size=”50″ align=”left” /] The second Polish band to feature in an article by me is none other than Poznan’s crossover funsters Acid Drinkers! There must be something in the water in Rzeczpospolita Polska Acid Drinkers - Fishdick Zwei album cover 192since they’ve been churning out top quality heavy metal since the 80s up until the present day – look out for more reviews from bands old and new and hopefully you can enjoy the slavic slammers that I’ve been discovering in recent times!

As stated above, Acid Drinkers are a crossover thrash band focusing on the more fun and ridiculous side of life á la the style of German bier maniacs Tankard. They’ve been around since 1986 and have consistently been releasing records since 1990. They’ve released many a cover version in their time and they’re heavy punk-ish version of the B-52’s party classic, “Love Shack” (from their 2010 covers album Fishdick Zwei – The Dick is Rising Again), is a cracker. Their version also features alt-rock singer/songwriter Ania Brachaczek singing the female vocals to couple with frontman Tomasz “Titus” Pukacki’s take on the original weirdness that comprises the male vocal.

Acid Drinkers version of “Love Shack” by the B-52s is a good old fashioned bit of fun and certainly makes a cool heavy cover of an 80s classic. It’s definitely a staple of my party playlist and maybe it might make yours. Enjoy!
