Not done one of these posts in ages, and I happened to stumble up on this version of Culture Club‘s classic while randomly searching for a photograph of a rock n’ roll chameleon. As you do on a Friday evening.
The original song is an absolute classic and Saw Loser have done a decent job in punking it up a little bit. It’s fairly close to the original, but the pace has been upped slightly and the vocals (certainly at the start) are more than just a  bit reminiscent of a certain Billie Joe Armstrong.
Culture Club’s version, released in 1983, was the biggest selling single of the year in the UK – topping the charts for six weeks – and was the band’s only US number 1. In fact, the song’s so good that it even featured in the A-Team TV series, played by the band at the end of an episode.
