Headline Act: Dead Reynolds

Dead Reynolds released their latest 6-track EP Animal just over a week ago, and you really do need to give it a listen. You also need to give the following a read as they tell us about what they’re up to next…

Simple things first – where are you guys from?

We are all from East Anglia, spread around from Cambridge to Peterborough and into Norfolk

How did you meet?

The local Cambridge/Peterborough music scene. Through other bands and when one band finishes another one starts! Rossco is the odd one out (he knows this already!) as he moved from Harlow and it was a throw away conversation with a mutual friend and we needed aq singer, the rest is history!

Before you get sick of being asked, where did the name come from?

We had been together for a few weeks and were still looing for a name, it was the day that Burt Reynolds died and another throw away comment about “Dead Reynolds” it just stuck!

What are your influences?

We have so many! We all like different things! Its more about the heart, passion and essence of the song or the band. Rossco is a massive Queen/Fleetwood Mac fan, Luke is more into Punk and Ben more classic rock. Both Dom and Luke are more modern rock. Bands that have influenced us would be Queen/Funeral for a friend/Arcane Roots/Fightstar/Feeder/Blink 182/Alterbridge.

Describe your music, what makes you unique?

We were told by a fan at a show “you are all my favourite bands, rolled into one” With that in mid there is something for everyone and we feel we span rock genres.

Do you have any particular lyrical themes?

We recently released an EP Animal all 5 songs on the album were born out of mental health crisis, loss, addiction and struggle. Highlighting the unhighlighted and bringing to the surface the daily struggles we all as humans face. Animal is from the heart with a heart of its own!  Best served in an underground venue or on a festival main stage, not forgetting your workout anthem!

Fusing the drive and determination of previous sounds heard but with a modern twist, bigger hooks and anthemic melodies culminating in a message about bettering yourself in the realisation you can’t do it alone.

What are your live shows like, how many have you played?

The live shows are full of energy with the audience playing a massive part, we want to feel connected and really hope everyone there goes home with our lyrics and melodies in their ears! We have played over 25 since Rossco has joined the band.

What’s the wildest thing you have seen or done at a show?

Nothing out of the ordinary. Both Luke and Ross tend to take too many clothes off!

What kit do you use?

Gibson guitars / Fender basses / Luke is endorsed by SJC drums

Kempers on stage but Dom is still old skool and has a Marshall TSL

What, if anything are you promoting /plugging at the moment?

The new track “Animal” which came out on 13th March. Its already been played over 200 times on radio and is going down really well! Please check it out!

What are your plans for the next 6 months?

We have a number of shows coming up in Peterborough, Cambridge, Norwich, Sheffield and Scotland! We have festivals too being confirmed plus we are working on new material.

If you were second on a three-band bill, which band would you love to be supporting and which band would you choose to open for?

We have toured with a band called Fox Haunt based up in Leeds, we would both support them and open for them too as they are awesome lads!
