As ever, it’s always good to get introduced to a new band and today we have… this bunch! With a new single and some festival dates coming up, it’s the perfect time to check out some Dying Habit…
Simple things first – where are you guys from?
We are from the beautiful Island of Anglesey in North Wales.
How did you meet?
Three of us have known each other since school, and Dan came on board nearly two years ago in 2021. Finding the right bassist proved difficult, but Dan was clearly the right guy for us.
How long have you been playing as a band?
We began writing and playing as a band in around 2017/18 so it has been 5-6 years. We have evolved a lot over this period, and we will continue to improve.
What are your influences?
I think any music we grew up on is probably an influence in our style – 90s rock / grunge and alternative. But it’s all subconscious, we never really think about how we want to sound. It’s the music that comes out when we write and play together that tends to write itself.
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
It’s rock music with plenty of energy, ideas, riffs and melodies. I think we always make sure that the songs are memorable and have plenty of hooks as we evolve.

What’s your live show like? How many shows have you played?
All our songs are written in a way that they can be played live, so the live set is pretty well honed and captivating. We never play covers, but if you like your music intense and full of great songs, you’re in the right place.
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
I think we were at least partially responsible for a venue shutting down years ago as the place got trashed when all the local ‘characters’ turned up for one of our shows. It got out of our hands pretty quick. It was very memorable.
What kit do you use / guitars do you play / etc.? Mark uses a Gretsch kit, but he is planning on upgrading to a pearl Masters.
Alan likes his PRS guitars and Marshall amps, and Dan with a super cool bass set up.
What, if anything, are you plugging/promoting at the moment?
So we have a new single ‘Puzzles’ out now then we will be playing a few gigs and festivals to support that over the summer.
What are your plans for the next 6 months or so?
Beyond the gigs the main plan is to get recording our next album in the studio. Song wise we are ready to roll so just a matter of getting it done.
