Time for another of our Headline Act features where we delve under the skin of an up-and-coming band from somewhere in the rock and metal world. We’re staying UK-based for today’s interview. Thanks to the guys from Nightblade for telling us a bit more about themselves in the runup to the September release of their new album…
Simple things first – where are you guys from?
We are Kidderminster-based in the UK.
How did you meet?
At the gym.
How long have you been playing as a band?
With the current line up about 4 years with obviously the recent addition of Chris on guitar.
Before you get sick of being asked… where does the band name come from?
It was literally having a brainstorm and matter of coming up with something appropriate at the time.
What are your influences?

Describe your music. What makes you unique?
Probably our collective list of varied influences.
Do you have any particular lyrical themes?
A lot of the songs are about people and different life scenarios.

What’s your live show like? How many shows have you played?
We play very accurately to the recorded version live. We are pretty animated and dynamic on stage, it definitely shows that we enjoy it when we play live.
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
I like to come off stage when I can and mingle with the audience. I also have a habit of climbing.
What kit do you use / guitars do you play / etc.?
Guitars: Fender, Ibanez
Bass: Dingwall, Mike Lull
Drums: Tama
What, if anything, are you plugging/promoting at the moment?
We are currently promoting the album out on Sept 9th. Both “Hope To be There” and “Tell Me How” videos and singles are being heavily plugged and are getting great airplay. We will be promoting the next single in roughly a month too.
What are your plans for the next 6 months or so?
Gigging, writing, gaining ground and awareness.
If you were second on a three-band bill, which band would you love to be supporting and which band would you choose to open for you? A chance to plug someone you’ve toured with, or a mate’s band we’ve not heard of before!
Pearl Jam, Alter Bridge or Shinedown would be brilliant.
