Scary masks, scary music – it’s got to be a nu-metal act! This one hails from Italy…
Simple things first – where are you guys from?
Hello everyone, we are a band from Pordenone in Friuli Venezia Giulia.
How did you meet?
I (Rat, vocals), MJ (lead guitar) and ColdFace (drums) are longtime friends and played together for many years prior to this project. To form TMC we met in a bar to have a beer and MJ proposed this new project, previously born in 2009 under another name and musical genre.
How long have you been playing as a band?
We formed around September 2018.
Before you get sick of being asked… where does the band name come from?
We are very fond of creepypastas [this is a thing – Mosh] and horror stories in general. We wanted to take a cue from one of these and therefore we called ourselves MothMan (just like the legend of the man with wings). At the time we had a promoter who pointed out to us that the name was too banal and so we started thinking about how to change it. In a Horror story, therefore, a curse cannot be missing and our full name was born from that.
What are your influences?
We were born with the nu-metal of the 2000s and from metalcore. The most obvious influences are certainly DevilDriver, Lamb of God, Slipknot and Korn
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
Unique nowadays it is difficult to be, there is always someone’s influence. We try to put all of ourselves into a song, convey with music and lyrics what we feel what we feel the emotions and sensations we feel or have felt, because after all we have all had bad moments, anxieties, fears, etc.

Do you have any particular lyrical themes?
Our lyrics mainly speak of an inner malaise, anxiety, fear of death. In the album we are writing we are also dealing with much heavier and angry themes.
What’s your live show like? How many shows have you played?
How many I honestly don’t remember. Our live show is all meticulously calculated in the rehearsal room. From the intro to the final song. We calculate and try everything, then a few times we let ourselves be taken by improvisation. We try to convey all of ourselves and for now the audience has always responded very well and enjoyed our lives.
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
Seen, definitely Slipknot.
Done? In Krakow a completely drunk madman who threw himself on stage and on him and all until he was thrown on the wall by the sound engineer.
What kit do you use / guitars do you play / etc.?
M.J. uses Ltd, BC Rich and a modified 8-string Harley Benton with attached Carvin headboard or an HD400 pod
Coldaface uses a Mapex Armory with Meinl cymbals
Onimatt player uses a Yamaha TRBX 505 5-string bass with Darkglass preamp
Rat uses a Shure SM58 microphone

What, if anything, are you plugging/promoting at the moment?
We have recently released a single with lyric video “Darkness Inside” and perhaps another single soon but we have to decide if with or without attached video.
What are your plans for the next 6 months or so?
We are thinking of a plan to better promote the new album, not having the possibility of live or various tours at the moment. We are still writing and we have to register but unfortunately the Covid continues to block us.
If you were second on a three-band bill, which band would you love to be supporting and which band would you choose to open for you? A chance to plug someone you’ve toured with, or a mate’s band we’ve not heard of before!
In a three band bill we would like to support Lamb of God. As an opening band we would like our friends Madvice.
