Another place in the US which has pinched its name from the UK! But we’ll let them off because Attraction To Tragedy come from there…
How did you meet?
Our old drummer introduced Brandon to myself.
How long have you been playing as a band?
The current version of the band has been going since 2016.
Before you get sick of being asked… where does the band name come from?
Humanity’s fascination with death. The reason highway traffic slows down when there’s an accident on the other side.
What are your influences?
Funeral For A Friend, It Dies Today, From First To Last, Stutterfly. But we both listen to a wide variety of music and it all gets filtered into what we do. Anything from death metal to the most bubblegum music you could imagine.
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
The goal from the beginning was to take the emo/post hardcore music we love but have a metal band playing it. A lot of our favorite bands were punk/hardcore kids playing metal riffs and the thought was what if we reversed that. That’s the foundation and over time things like vocal harmonies came into play from my love of pop and r&b.
Do you have any particular lyrical themes?
Relationships and introspection.
What’s your live show like? How many shows have you played?
Energetic and fast paced. Less talk, more rock. We were playing very regularly/consistently up until you know…
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
Early on we were in the parking lot before load in and the bouncer walked out and said “you guys should get inside before you get jumped”. A warm reception.
What kit do you use / guitars do you play / etc.?
I’m all about Jackson/Charvel guitars and Seymour Duncan pickups. Been using a kemper onstage for about a year but in the studio it’s a Mesa Dual Rectifier.
What, if anything, are you plugging/promoting at the moment?
Our new single/video “Hole In Your Heart”. Check it out below!
What are your plans for the next 6 months or so?
We’re always writing/demoing so plenty of that for sure.
If you were second on a three-band bill, which band would you love to be supporting and which band would you choose to open for you? A chance to plug someone you’ve toured with, or a mate’s band we’ve not heard of before!
Funeral For A Friend with our friends in Lusus opening.
