We are from Cologne, Germany
How did you meet?
Laura was looking for a progressive metal band and the guys were looking for a singer. And how life goes, Laura commented under a picture of a mutual friend on facebook, complimenting Julian’s guitar. This is why they texted her; they met and evolved from strangers, to bandmates, to friends, to family!
How long have you been playing as a band?
Since 2019
Before you get sick of being asked… where does the band name come from?
Aeries is a name for a large nest of a bird of prey way up high in a tree or a cliff. Protected but also always on top ready to hunt. Aries is a zodiac sign which strengths are being courageous, determined, enthusiastic, honest and passionate. The name ÆRIES is a mixture of both those mantras.

What are your influences?
Jinjer, Monuments, Unprocessed, Nina Simone and… Disney
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
Our music is a major part of our merged identities. And I guess this is what makes the music unique. We try to find a way to create a symbiosis of everyone’s musical DNA, which leads to songs e.g. our new track GISMA, where we mix electronic samples, with djenty riffs, a pop chorus vocal line and guttural singing.
Do you have any particular lyrical themes?
The nature of humankind.
What’s your live show like? How many shows have you played?
We have played 2 shows in total. Both of them as a support for metal almighties Jinjer. During a global pandemic. So I would describe our live shows as adventures. As defining. As Magical.
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
Playing support for Jinjer in a concert hall which is made for 12,000 people filled with 1000 beach baskets during a global pandemic and watching people still go crazy about the music.

We have just released our new song and music video GISMA which you can watch below. We will also play more gigs / livestreams, which you can find on facebook.

What are your plans over the next six months or so?
To be ready and prepared for any upcoming live gigs, we are allowed to play during Corona times! So we will be rehearsing a lot. Additionally we are working on another track, which will be released at the end of 2020, so stay tuned!
If you were second on a three-band bill, which band would you love to be supporting and which band would you choose to open for you? A chance to plug someone you’ve toured with, or a mate’s band we’ve not heard of before!
