Ready to rock? Ready to rock with a German band? Ready to rock with… Andy Rocks?
Simple things first – where are you guys from?
We’re from the north of Bavaria, Germany located near the city of Bayreuth.
How did you meet?
I know Markus and Michael for a long time and we already played together in Black Daffodils before. When I started Andy Rocks I asked them to join.
How long have you been playing as a band?
The Project Andy Rocks is not very old. I started it in the middle of 2018.

Before you get sick of being asked… where does the band name come from?
This is very simple: My nickname has always been Andy and since I am a big fan of rock music and this is the kind of music I wanted to do the project was called Andy Rocks.
What are your influences?
All various kinds of rock music for example Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, Guns ‘n’ Roses but also artists like Alanis Morissette or Sheryl Crow.
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
We have a classic rock sound, a little American, combined with modern elements. Cool guitar riffs and licks unite with catchy melody lines and a charismatic female voice underlined by tight drum and bass grooves.
Do you have any particular lyrical themes?
No, because there are so many things to write about and not only one specific theme.
What’s your live show like? How many shows have you played?
Andy Rocks has not yet played many live shows because the band is not very old and now we all know that the corona crisis makes a deep impact on live shows. But everyone of us already played many shows in the past with different groups. When we are on stage we always try to give the best possible performance for the audience to have a good time!
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
Once at a Halloween show with Black Daffodils I was carried on stage in a coffin all the way through the audience.
What kit do you use / guitars do you play / etc.?
Our drummer Markus uses a Tama Starclassic kit and we play Gibson guitars.
What, if anything, are you plugging/promoting at the moment?
Our latest single Digital Detox is out now and we made a lockdown video for the song.

What are your plans for the rest of 2020?
At the moment we are working on writing new songs but we also keep on recording stuff which will soon lead to a full length album.
If you were second on a three-band bill, which band would you love to be supporting and which band would you choose to open for you? A chance to plug someone you’ve toured with, or a mate’s band we’ve not heard of before!
We would like to open for Black Stone Cherry, I think this would fit good together. And as Opening Act I would The Scandal Rock Band from Ingolstadt. I know the guys for a long time and they are a really great Rock band!
