All the way from down under and with a breezy choice in legwear, today’s BotD…
Simple things first – where are you guys from?
The Mallee [This is in Australia – Mosh (who looked it up)]
How did you meet?
Primary school.
How long have you been playing as a band?
20 years.

Before you get sick of being asked… where does the band name come from?
We hang out in Ballarat a lot and it’s always really cold and we always wore shorts. It’d be snowing and we’d go to walk into the venue and security would go “It’s the Shorts guys”
What are your influences?
Rock n’ roll, punk rock, country.
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
We play fast, melodic punk rock, but sometimes a country tinged to it. We’re unique ‘cause we sing about where we grew up and the crazy shit and interesting folk that frequent there.
Do you have any particular lyrical themes?
The Mallee, growing up in the country.
What’s your live show like? How many shows have you played?
Played over 500 shows. Our live show is very fast, lots of barbs directed at our guitarist Dan who insists tuning every ten seconds and ruining our flow. Lots of love directed at our bass player Sharpy who somehow puts up with two brothers in a 3 piece band.
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
Played 63 songs one night, a million years ago.
What kit do you use / guitars do you play / etc.?
Ibanez guitar, MusicMan bass. The drums are red.

What, if anything, are you plugging/promoting at the moment?
Our new release, Tango.
What are your plans for the next 6 months or so?
Gonna write another album, not able to play shows so why not?
If you were second on a three-band bill, which band would you love to be supporting and which band would you choose to open for you? A chance to plug someone you’ve toured with, or a mate’s band we’ve not heard of before!
We’d love to have The Lazy Farmer’s Sons open and the headliner be The Duvtons.
