Band of the Day: Immerse (includes new single / video!)

Immerse release their new single today, so why not give it a listen and find out more about them?

Simple things first – where are you guys from?

Bristol, UK

How long have you been playing as a band?

We formed in late 2018! We’ve previously played together in bands with different lineups but decided to start fresh with Immerse.

Before you get sick of being asked… where does the band name come from?

Not an exciting story really! We came up with a list of potential names and Immerse was our favourite. We wanted a name that reflected our passion and wouldn’t limit us to a specific genre. Immerse was the perfect choice.

What are your influences?

Our musical influences vary. Me & Archie tend to like more melodic bands such as The Story So Far, Bring Me The Horizon & Blink 182. Josh & Ben generally like heavier bands such as Kublai Khan, Gideon & Knocked Loose. The elements that we try to incorporate into our music captures the best of both worlds. There’s definitely a common ground which makes everything come together so well.

Describe your music. What makes you unique?

We combine heavy riffs with sculpted melodic sections. I’m really proud with how we blend our ideas and create a sound that comes across brilliantly live. Our new music is more refined and a huge step up.

Do you have any particular lyrical themes?

Recurring themes in our songs include love, loss & betrayal which are all rights of passage whilst growing as a person. But we are a positive group that wants to spread hope and togetherness with our music.

What’s your live show like? How many shows have you played?

Energetic! There’s always a lot of movement at our shows and Archie likes to get the crowd moving as much as possible! We’ve played all over the UK and enjoy doing weekenders as we get to meet new bands and experience new places in their prime.

What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?

For a Halloween show last year, we all dressed up in full football kits (even shin pads) which was wild! Football and filthy riffs is an unbeatable combo.

What kit do you use / guitars do you play / etc.?

Josh plays a Mapex kit with a variety of Meinl cymbals/ Ben plays a Fender Jazz Bass & I use a custom Jim Root Fender Telecaster

What, if anything, are you plugging/promoting at the moment?

The new music video for our upcoming single “Here’s Hoping” is out July 3rd! The single captures the best elements of Immerse and we think people will love it. We’ve also just announced a weekend headline run in January (21st-23rd) so make sure you add that to your diary!

What are your plans for the next 6 months or so?

A brand new live set is in the works for our headline tour so there will be plenty of practicing going on. We are gutted that we’re unable to play any shows this summer but keeping people safe is the number one priority. There might be some more new music from us to keep you entertained until then…

If you were second on a three-band bill, which band would you love to be supporting and which band would you choose to open for you?

For me, supporting Architects or Good Charlotte would be a dream come true. I’ve been listening to both those bands since I was about 10 years old. When I saw that Sam Carter was featuring on “Leech” I knew it would be a banger! In terms of an opener, it would have to be On Hollow Ground as they’re great lads and slay live! Make sure you listen to their new single “Our Lives”!
