Very arty and the first act we’ve ever come across which has a lyrically-inspired clothing range!
How long have you been playing music?
I’ve been performing and writing since I was a little.
Before you get sick of being asked… where does the name come from?
To me the word Brocarde signifies the art of being intricately woven, the coming together of a lots of different influences and dynamics and being one whole.
What are your influences?
People are my biggest influence, storytelling, capturing emotions. I’m excited by words and the power they can have, my music is an extension of that, orchestrating my own emotions.
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
I think everyone is unique, we all have a unique voice inside of us, it’s about learning how to embrace that and having the confidence to stand alone. If I’m unique it’s because I don’t follow, I don’t have peers or people I aspire to, my only mission is to find my own truth and share it. To be uninfluenced, it’s not easy.
Do you have any particular lyrical themes?
Like recurring nightmares. The notion of not fitting in is a haunting theme, complicated relationships, acceptance and death, naturally.
What’s your live show like? How many shows have you played?
You’ll have to wait and see… I make no promises!
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
Severing my own head in my music video was fun!
What instruments do you play?
My voice is my biggest instrument and my imagination. I play the piano but I don’t have the passion for it like I do for performing and singing.
What, if anything, are you plugging/promoting at the moment?
I have a new single called “Love Me ’Til I’m Beautiful” which is out on 14th February, I also have a lyric themed clothing collection which you can buy from my website.
What are your plans for 2020?
I just want to go full throttle and release lots of music and drown in creativity. I kind of feel like a caged bird I just want to get out there and share music.
If you were second on a three-band bill, which band or artist would you love to be supporting and which band would you choose to open for you? A chance to plug someone you’ve toured with, or a mate’s band we’ve not heard of before!
I don’t have any friends! I want to open for Queen, in fact I want to be in Queen!
