Ease your way through Sunday with a bit of Brit rock…
Simple things first – where are you guys from?
Guildford
How did you meet?
Sam and Dan have been childhood mates and Sam met Chawner and Austen at Uni.
How long have you been playing as a band?
This line up about 2 years. The band Cascade has been around for 4 years, however.
Before you get sick of being asked… where does the band name come from?
Already sick of it. Let’s just say Sam heard the word on TV and it just stuck in his head. Dr Who and drugs combination.
What are your influences?
Oasis, Foo Fighters, Arctic Monkeys, Catfish and the Bottlemen, Kasabian, Frank Turner, the Verve, Two Door Cinema Club.
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
Anthem-like, stadium-quality Brit rock. You’ve heard the sound before. We haven’t tried to reinvent the wheel. We’ve just given it an updated modern touch.
Do you have any particular lyrical themes?
Sam can only write about what he has experienced. So as a young lad, you experience relationship problems, as well as how to deal with drink and drugs and all that jazz. So our song is about growing up essentially.
What’s your live show like? How many shows have you played?
They just sound huge. We don’t start smashing up our instruments or start crowd surfing. We like to concentrate on how it sounds. We’ve lost track of how many shows we’ve played.
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
Off the top of my head, I can’t remember. Anytime “crazy” that we do is usually with our instruments. Chawner can half play the bass so it will probably be something that he’s played.
What kit do you use / guitars do you play / etc.?
Epiphones and Fenders are our guitar choices. Dan played a Gretsch kit.
What, if anything, are you plugging/promoting at the moment?
Our new single “Angels Path” which came out on November 1st. Go check it out.
What are your plans for the rest of 2019?
We just came off our October tour. So I think we’re looking at playing a few more shows and releasing this track. We might shoot an acoustic video or 2.
If you were second on a three-band bill, which band would you love to be supporting and which band would you choose to open for you? A chance to plug someone you’ve toured with, or a mate’s band we’ve not heard of before!
Open: slowlines
Supporting: catfish and the bottlemen
Cascade: facebook | twitter | instagram | youtube | bigcartel
