Band of the Day: Black Income

It’s Friiiiiiiiiddaaayyyyyy! Ahem. And here’s today’s Band of the Day…

Simple things first – where are you guys from?

We’re from Denmark.

How did you meet?

We have been playing in different setups through the years on and off, before we decided to form the band.

How long have you been playing as a band?

We started out late 2011, so it’s about 8 years now.

Before you get sick of being asked… where does the band name come from?

(laughs) We get this a lot… well for us Black Income is a symbol of freedom, meaning this can be the only solution to cope with today’s system, if it’s your way out, use it, the banks sure do.

What are your influences?

We are smitten by the 90’s era, but we’re not here to repeat the history, we also find a lot of inspiration from the stoner and fuzz scene.

Describe your music. What makes you unique?

We play in your face rock music, our music is dynamic, rough and melodic in one mix, and with a strong focus on developing our own sound, we sound like no others.

Do you have any particular lyrical themes?

No, not really, we write about what’s on our minds, but it for the most realism and feelings.

What’s your live show like? How many shows have you played?

We do energetic live shows, always jamming out… The last tour we played about 50 show, supporting a lot of great bands.

What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?

One time we drank a lot of coffee and no beer. (laughs) We won’t do that again…

What kit do you use / guitars do you play / etc.?

Marshall and Orange amp and cabs, with a custom Fender Strat with a humbugger.

What are your plans for 2019?

We have a release gig coming up in September, after that we enter the Tube IT studio again to record our third album, we got a lot of material so we need to get it out.

If you were second on a three-band bill, which band would you love to be supporting and which band would you choose to open for you? A chance to plug someone you’ve toured with, or a mate’s band we’ve not heard of before!

We played some gigs with another band from Denmark called Skin Tuxedo, very cool band, they are out with a new album right now. Awesome guys, we have a lot of fun. We played a lot of opening gigs, but sure if Foo Fighters called, we would jump in the Batmobile.
