Band of the Day: The Gallery

Much like their music, The Gallery like to keep their answers straightforward.

Simple things first – where are you guys from?

Wakefield, West Yorkshire.

How did you meet?

At Kettlethorpe High School.

How long have you been playing as a band?

We formed four years ago, but as this current lineup we’ve been going for 6 months.

Before you get sick of being asked… where does the band name come from?

Where we used to rehearse, there was a building over the road called The Hepworth, which was an art gallery. We kind of put two and two together and it stuck from there…

What are your influences?

Radiohead, Rage Against the Machine, Wolf Alice, Joy Division.

Describe your music. What makes you unique?

Lyrics aren’t about love, which is what most bands get caught up in nowadays. We don’t get bogged down in power chords and try to experiment as much as we can. Our performance style is unique too.

Do you have any particular lyrical themes?

Society and all that is wrong with it.

What’s your live show like?

Frantic and chaotic. We would tell you more, but it’s better to buy a ticket and come see us.

How many shows have you played?

Lost count. Probably about 60/70.

What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?

Kicked out of our own show for being too young.

What kit do you use / guitars do you play / etc.?

We play a Squire Vintage Jaguar plugged into an Orange Rocker 32 and a Fender Mustang IV Amp. Also a Squire all black P-Bass and Ben uses a Zildjian K Dark crash and a Zildjian A large ride cymbal.

What, if anything, are you plugging/promoting at the moment?

Our new single “Pesticide”. Available on all platforms. Give it a download.

What are your plans for 2019?

Play festivals and release new music.

If you were second on a three-band bill, which band would you love to be supporting and which band would you choose to open for you? A chance to plug someone you’ve toured with, or a mate’s band we’ve not heard of before!

We’d love to support Wolf Alice and we’d have Shame open for us or Faux Pas. They’re quality.
