New day, new week… new band!
Simple things first – where are you guys from?
A small town where dreams go to die called Basingstoke.
How did you meet?
We met from playing in the local music scene, we all used to be in other bands that would regularly play together. Once those bands called it a day we decided to combine our powers like The Avengers and create a new band.
How long have you been playing as a band?
We had our first show at the beginning of the year.
Before you get sick of being asked… where does the band name come from?
Before a flower blooms there is a bud where the flower comes out. When there are more than one of these it is known as Buds. We then added a full stop because we are all honour roll students in English language.
What are your influences?
We’re big fans of the current Punk, Emo, Grunge bands. The scene seems to be popping up new bands all the time and it’s a great vibe. Some of our favourite bands spearheading the genre are: The Menzingers, PUP, Gnarwolves.
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
We’re just really focused on song writing. We’re not particularly fussed with the tropes or conventions of the genre although we don’t avoid them entirely. For us, it’s all about making sing along choruses that you know the words to after a couple listens.
Do you have any particular lyrical themes?
Looking over our EP there’s a lot to do with acceptance, caring, self improvement and posi-vibes. We’re not trying to be anyone’s role model but we try and have a positive message in our music.
What’s your live show like?
How many shows have you played? – Only a handful so far with this current band but we all come from bands who have toured around the UK. We try and keep our stage performance lively and fun. We’ve been quite blessed with the shows we’ve played this year, it’s been really cool to have had people moshing at our first show of the year. We also managed to get a big old load of arm waving at our show in London.
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
We recently went on a band outing to watch Drug Church in Southampton and it was mayhem! At one point there was people crowd surfing on people crowd surfing on people crowd surfing. How everyone left unscathed is a bloody miracle. At one of our shows last year a full on fight broke out after our set. That kinda stuff ain’t cool but it unfortunately became a talking point of the show.
What kit do you use / guitars do you play / etc.?
We’re pretty much walking billboards for Fender with the occasional usage of a cool SG we bought off of one of our mates. Dan bought a Toronado because he was a really big LTA fan back in the day. Tom will just hit anything he can find with a pair of sticks.
What, if anything, are you plugging/promoting at the moment?
Upcoming shows include:
- 02.03 – Bar 42, Worthing
- 12.04 – The Slaughtered Lamb, London
- 13.04 – The Phonenix, High Wycombe
- 27.04 – Suburbia, Southampton
- 29.04 – Mojo Bar, Reading
What are your plans for 2019?
The debut EP is coming soon! We’re gonna drop a couple more videos for it in the next coming months so look out for those. We’ll have a couple festival announcements for the summer but we’ve gotta wait to announce those.
