Nobody panic! We remembered to schedule a BotD for today. Coming into your earholes and eyeholes (messy) on this fine day are Worldwide Panic…
Los Angeles County, California.
How did you meet?
I met George, my rhythm guitarist, at a show. George, my lead guitarist, through my old guitarist and high school best friend who left the band to go to Iraq on his second tour of duty. The drummer, Francis, did this jam thing at the Sunset strip playing a Disturbed song together.
How long have you been playing as a band?
With this line up, since May. As a project, since 2016.
Before you get sick of being asked… where does the band name come from?
Well, I thought to myself what is the greatest band name of all time? Worldwide Panic! No, all jokes aside, I just thought it was a kick-ass band name no one had thought of.
What are your influences?
Real life experiences. If you want songs about dragons and other nerdy shit there are plenty of cheese metal bands that can fulfil that need out there.
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
What makes anything unique? Perception! If one perceives something to be different, that’s all it takes. Unless you’re doing some weird Tom Waits-esque avant-garde music, most likely it’s not unique. All the notes and chords in the world have already been played. It is up to us as the songwriters to try to piece it together in interesting ways.
What kit do you use / guitars do you play / etc.?
I play a 4 string Thunderbird and a 5 string Legator Ninja.
What, if anything, are you plugging/promoting at the moment?
New single out now and music video for our song “Party” and touring with Flaw and Smile Empty Soul this fall.
What are your plans for 2018?
Touring and putting out more singles off our upcoming EP.
If you were second on a three-band bill, which band would you love to be supporting and which band would you choose to open for you? A chance to plug someone you’ve toured with, or a mate’s band we’ve not heard of before!
Metallica and Red Devil Vortex, our hometown bros, would open.
