Band of the Day: Chasing Dragons

With an album about to drop and a tour about to start, now seems the ideal time to have a chat with Chasing Dragons…

Simple things first – where are you guys from?

We’re based in Leeds, UK.

How did you meet?

Tank and Kate have been besties for a decade, we stole Murf from Gumtree and Adam joined after a few friends recommended him.

How long have you been playing as a band?

As we are right now? Since February! Officially? We got our game faces on properly in 2014.

Before you get sick of being asked… where does the band name come from?

Ha! Yes, It’s a hot topic! It’s actually because we’re all massive nerds and we all love medieval video games!

What are your influences?

Faaaaaar too many to list! We each bring our individual influences to the table when we write.

Describe your music. What makes you unique?

Hmm… well we like to think we write very honest, heartfelt heavy rock. If there’s one thing we feel we do well, it’s that we’re honest. We love what we do and it’s a sum of our parts and our passions.

Do you have any particular lyrical themes?

Not really, each track is as individual as the next.

What’s your live show like? How many shows have you played?

Wow… a lot! It’s loud, it’s heavy and it’s got a huge helping of heartfelt passion. We like our fans to feel like a part of our family.

What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?

Ha! Oh, God… well, Tank broke a knuckle once by jump-punching a metal girder! Blood everywhere. It was gnarly!

What kit do you use / guitars do you play / etc.?

Adam usually plays a LTD and Murf plays a Warwick.

What, if anything, are you plugging/promoting at the moment?

Our new album Faction! It’s due for release Oct 5th 2018 and we’ll be out on a UK tour in November to promote it on the road!

What are your plans for the rest of 2018 and into next year?

Release our album, play an awesome tour, write some new music. It’s gonna be mega!

If you were second on a three-band bill, which band would you love to be supporting and which band would you choose to open for you? A chance to plug someone you’ve toured with, or a mate’s band we’ve not heard of before!

Ooh, well we’d love to support Nothing More… and to open? We played with this rad young band in Norwich called The Killing Culture. They’re ones to watch!

From previous Band of the Day BackBlast: If you had to change your band name and play a different genre, what would your name be, and which genre would that be and why?

Ha! Oh wow well let’s go… pop punk, because we’re all secretly 15 inside. And band name?! No clue. It took us ages to choose the one we have!

From another BotD, Black Water Chemistry: What do you enjoy the least about playing live?

Definitely the long drives in our van!

And from Break Out Day: If you had to bring one of your band member’s family with you on tour, which member’s family would you choose?

Tank’s Mum – she makes the best pack ups! And she’s a great sale on merch too!
