Band of the Day: Sirius

Two-man act Sirius have just appeared on our internet horizon. Read on to discover a little more about them…

Simple things first – where are you guys from?

We come from Southern Italy, “Cilento”, homeland of Paestum (Ancient Greek Town).

How did you meet?

I’m Joe and Josh and I met in 2013. Before the formation of this group, we played in a classic rock covers band, but after several years I wanted to create my songs and so I started composing music and lyrics. In 2015, therefore, the Sirius project was born.

How long have you been playing as a band?

I’ve played with my project since 2015, but he has played guitar with other bands from 2000 onwards.

Before you get sick of being asked… where does the band name come from?

The name comes from the song “Sirius” by Alan Parsons Project.

What are your influences?

Our influences are for music and sound, Alan Parsons Project, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Mike Oldfield, Daft Punk.

Describe your music. What makes you unique?

My music mixes different styles of rock, from progressive, ambient, pop, psychedelic, electronic, most with an experimental sound and audio rec. All this makes my music unique.

What’s your live show like? How many shows have you played?

In a year from the published album, we did 20 live.

What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?

While we played, backstage some people were having couple sex backstage.

What kit do you use / guitars do you play / etc.?

I personally use a Gibson Les Paul Classic Gold Top 2017, because I like its warm sound, while for the effects in the recording studio I use Proco Rat, Big Muff, Ts 9, and Rack Effect G Major. While on tour I use Zoom G5n. I really like a clean sound with many modulation effects like delay, chorus, flanger, all similar to the sound of Gilmour.

What are your plans for 2018?

Conquer the world with my music!

If you were second on a three-band bill, which band would you love to be supporting and which band would you choose to open for you? A chance to plug someone you’ve toured with, or a mate’s band we’ve not heard of before!

I just think I can do an open act for artists like David Gilmour or Roger Waters in my dreams, but I know this is not possible, so any artist is fine.
