Back to basics. That’s SHOUT’s technique for making music. What do we mean by that? We’ll let them tell you in their own words…
Simple things first – where are you guys from?
We all come from south of Sweden. We grew up in different villages nearby the town of Växjö, and that’s where we all met.
How did you meet?
We have all known each other from growing up. We come from the same area in Sweden, and our paths have crossed at concerts, parties and much more over the years.
How long have you been playing as a band?
We barely have! Since SHOUT is a pretty recently started band and we all come from a line of different bands, we have only played one gig so far with SHOUT, but we played together for a couple of years with The Scams.
Before you get sick of being asked… where does the band name come from?
It kind of just came to us, we wanted something that reflected the music and was straight to the point, and that’s what you wanna do when you listen to heavy metal! SHOUT – thats what it’s all about!
What are your influences?
We have influences both from heavy metal, rock n’ roll and punk rock. It is bands like AC/DC, Judas Priest, W.A.S.P. KISS, Iron Maiden, Motorhead, Turbonegro, Rose Tattoo, Ramones, Misfits, Danzig… to mention a few R n’ R heroes.
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
I would describe it as traditional heavy metal, the high energy ass kicking kind! With lots of singalong choruses that everyone can shout along with, I think it’s maybe too early to tell so I guess the listeners will have to answer what makes us unique when the album is out.
Do you have any particular lyrical themes?
Well I think we mostly write about the rock and roll lifestyle itself, I guess it’s the usual stuff like fast cars, girls, rock n’ roll… but also the freedom this lifestyle gives you, and the bond the music gives us and unites all headbangers out there!
What’s your live show like? How many shows have you played?
We have only done one show with SHOUT so far, but we like to put on a high energy R n’ R show and make people feel alive!
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
In terms of the wildest stage show it’s probably KISS or Motley Crue. They always put on a big pyrotechnic and fireworks show, and KISS having Paul and Gene flying off stage and Tommy Lee in Motley playing drums in his rollercoaster rigs!
What kit do you use / guitars do you play / etc.?
Our drummer, Ol`Hurricane, has a bunch of different drum sets but his newest once are a 70s Acryl set that looks like its made of ice. Rob Raw plays his Gibson Flying V guitar on his Marshall amps and Danny Diemond plays his Gibson Explorer guitar on his Marshalls as well. I (Kriss Biggs) have a custom built one-of-a-kind handmade bass guitar in the shape of a wolf that I play on my Ampeg rig.
What are your plans for 2018?
Our plan is mostly to get our album released and get it out there to as many as possible and start to get the show on the road!
If you were second on a three-band bill, which band would you love to be supporting and which band would you choose to open for you? A chance to plug someone you’ve toured with, or a mate’s band we’ve not heard of before!
Well if the sky’s the limit, I would wanna open for Iron Maiden of course. And if I could bring another band along I would bring our friends in Ambush that I know also love Iron Maiden.
