Batman and Robin, Tom and Jerry, James Hetfield and the word “Yeah”; some duos are simply dynamic and feel right when they are together. As much can be said for today’s Band of the Day, Go Gracious, a delightfully punny band hailing from, erm, well, Earth, and playing a kind of music they like to call ‘people music’. We here at Moshville Towers were lucky enough to scratch the minds of Go Gracious and find out more about this mysterious band.
First things first – where are you guys from?
Planet Earth. That’s the story and I’m sticking to it.
How did you meet?
When we arrived on this planet, shortly after and just before slipping through the rip in spacetime.
For those who didn’t get that: We met at a rock show. He said “What?!” and I told him I didn’t know.
How long have you been playing as a band?
About 6 metres.
Before you get sick of being asked… Where does the band name come from?
From a book on Earth’s History, from 3168 AD. Also… Too late!
What are your influences?
Mostly, we are influenced by sense of smell. And contradiction.
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
It is an assortment of frequencies that mostly have mathematical relationships to each other, created at varying intervals in time. These intervals usually have a base 2 mathematical relationship.
We are the only 2 pieces pop rock band that has an exclusive time-travelling, extra-terrestrial membership.
Do you have any particular lyrical themes?
Because we like to break with the norm, we have decided that everyone else is trying to be different, and the best way to be different from those people is to be the same as everyone else. So our songs are about emotions.
What’s your live show like? How many shows have you played?
Have you ever seen 2 people bring a stadium-quality rock show to a local pub?
Well, if you come to a Go Gracious show, you’ll see 2 people fail to do exactly that, but try really hard.
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
I once got so into the music that I nodded my head a little.
What kit do you use / guitars do you play / etc.?
Heavy kit, exclusively. Unless there’s someone reading this who fancies giving us an endorsement deal, and then YOUR kit, exclusively.
What are your plans for 2018?
Trying to stay alive throughout the impending Trump/Brexit apocalypse. And trying to cheer people up by playing shows.
If you were second on a three-band bill, which band would you love to be supporting and which band would you choose to open for you? A chance to plug someone you’ve toured with, or a mate’s band we’ve not heard of before!
I’d use our super secret tear in space/time to have support come from Go Gracious 2017, and headline from Go Gracious 2035, just before their awful 5th album.
