I first came across Rugby-based rock band Tan.Trum when they supported The Prophets at their Waiting For The End EP launch in December 2015 and was blown away by the talent of this young band.
Drummer Louis turned thirteen years old earlier this year, and the other members (Ellis on lead guitar, Georgie on bass and Phoebe on vocals) are sixteen years old. You might assume that at this young age they wouldn’t be much good… but you would be sorely mistaken. Tan.Trum are a dedicated and talented group of musicians and I think that they will go far. They are already beginning to grow a dedicated group of supporters, including BBC Coventry and Warwickshire.
The band were formed in 2012 by lead guitarist Ellis and mostly play shows around their home-town of Rugby, as well as nearby Coventry and Birmingham. They released their debut EP Revival earlier this year, which consists of four original songs; “Broken”, “Haunted”, “Pieces of Eight” and “Saviour”.
“We wanted to create a quality EP that we enjoy playing and that people enjoy listening to” the band say, and I think this is a brilliant first release.
From the opening riff of “Broken” you get an idea of what this band are about. “Haunted” is my personal favourite track on the EP and you can check out the video that they directed and filmed themselves below.
Tan.Trum are currently working on their second EP and are starting to introduce new songs into their live set. If you see them on the bill at your local venue I strongly urge you to check them out.
