[avatar user=”Mosh” size=”50″ align=”left” /]I’ve had Wells Valley sat in the queue for Band of the Day since the end of November (told you I had a backlog), but have rushed them up for today due to the news yesterday that their debut album is imminent.
Formed in 2011, the fruits of their labour – Matter as Regent – is due for release on February 7th. Coincidentally or not, the same date will see the band play their first ever live show as part of the Burning Live Fest in Lisbon. The band themselves are from Portugal, so it makes sense to perform on home soil.
The band’s music is in the doom/sludge genre, typified by “Star Over A Wheel” which you can see below. The band’s drummer Pedro Mau describes it thus:
It is sober, gloomy and simple, just like the sound we create. It has also many sludge, doom, psychedelic and death elements.
As yet, there doesn’t seem to be a lot of material out on the internet for you to sample, but I’m sure that will change as Matter as Regent draws nearer. If you like the track below, follow them on facebook – and keep an eye out on here – for further news.
