Band of the Day: Heel

Heel - Stranger Just The SameStretching our legs in the pop-rock category today with one of the lighter acts, but one that still manages to rock pretty hard.

Heel are from London and are a four-piece: Maggie on vocals, Dan on guitars, Yuta on bass and Tom on drums. Keen to avoid the focus on a female-led band, they instead pay more attention to forging their own sound. Inevitably, though, comparisons will be made to existing artists and the soon-to-be-released single “Strangers” (which is streamable below) made me think very much of Skunk Anansie. Which isn’t a bad thing.

Their self-titled debut is available now with a follow-up album, Stranger Just the Same, due to appear at the end of July.

There’s a video to follow so if attractive front ladies (and attractive male musicians) are your thing then that could also be worth waiting for.
