Band of the Day: Alien Ken

Alien Ken - ContactAnother one-man-band for you today with Ken Johansen’s solo project, Alien Ken. It must be good because my work’s network blocked my access to the band’s website so I had to wait until I got home to write this up.

Ken’s latest album, Contact, is available via many sources (links below) and it’s a great slice of classic heavy rock / metal. Ken lists the band’s genre as “alien / coffin rock”, but that’s more to do with the attitude and lyrical content, although there’s a definite sci-fi (or at least industrial) feel to some of the tracks.

You can check some of them out via the Soundcloud and Reverbnation links below – and enjoy the spanking new video for “Cleanse My Claws” that came out today which I’ve embedded at the bottom of the page.

“Cleanse My Claws” is dark and mysterious and tells the tale of lost rebellious children in a not so distant future. The kids break into a factory only to witness some of their worst fears come to life…

The video is directed by Jon Helge Hesby at Image Vision and produced by Alien Ken. Edit by Fredrik Hana, mostly known for directing several videos for the band Kvelertak.

Apparently there are some guests on the album, but their identities are hidden for “security reasons”. So if one of your favourite guitarists seems to have gone missing, check with Ken. He probably has them in some kind of cry-pod or used their bones to make crop circles. Or something.

If you like this, then it might be worth checking out Ken’s other projects – K[nine] and Moth Circus.
