Got to like a bit of post-hardcore. Lay It On The Line have been getting some good press in the lead-up to the release of their second EP. Having listened to them for the first time myself, I’m not surprised.
Formed early in 2012 from the ashes of many touring UK bands, members have been in cult underground UK punk bands including Phinius Gage and Hang The Bastard.
Although the band are still in their infancy, they’ve already racked up a demo which was played on Radio 1 by Mike Davies before the band even played a show, 2 EPs and a split with up and coming Belgian band Arizona. With notable support slots alongside hard core heavyweights including Landscapes, Death By Stereo and Ignite, these guys are already turning all the right heads.
Vigilance is the band’s new 5 song EP – another concept recording exploring the story of George Hutchison, a friend of Mary Kelly, the last Jack The Ripper victim. Recorded by Neil Kennedy at Ranch Production House (More Than Life, Sharks, Landscapes, Departures, Vales), the EP plays on the band’s Youth Crew influences more than their earlier EPs, expertly blending their signature brand of screamo, melodic hard core and angular riffs.
The band will be hitting the road throughout spring 2014 on sporadic UK dates as well as a short run of shows in Europe, where their staunch DIY fan base is growing rapidly.
