Bulgaria is one country I’ve yet to visit, though I’ve been quite close with a night or three in Bucharest. I’ve heard great things, and I’ve just discovered that there are great things to be heard coming from it.
One of those is the band Rampart. Formed in 2006, the band made quite the impact with an album release in 2009. By 2011, all but founder member and front-woman Maria D.S. left to ply their trade elsewhere.
A new bunch of cohorts were found and an EP released, building up to another album in 2012 – War Behest. Billed as a “metal opera”, but not in an operatic style, it’s eight tracks of hair-swinging, head-banging heavy metal.
The video below is of one of their older tracks, but it’s along the same lines musically.
You can find out more about them on their facefart page, with links to more of their tracks.
