New Band of the Day: The Fall of Eden

The Fall of Eden (2013)

There’s a lot to be said for Glasgow. Great music scene. Ton of venues. Lots of bars. Erm… I live there. Erm… OK, so it’s not that great apart from the music. And the beer.

Oh, and The Fall of Eden are from Glasgow, but I guess they just come under the music bit.

This five-piece of scruffy upstarts play what the young people today are calling “metalcore”. This means it’s angry, loud, in your face and usually results in bloodied noses after gigs.

These are all good things.

Their five-track EP, Memoirs, is available to stream / purchase on bandcamp and it’s definitely worth twenty or so minutes of your time. If you like it, give them however much you feel like to download your own copy. A bargain. You can use the rest of your cash to get yourself a Buckfast and a copy of the Dandy.

They’ve only been together for a year and – to quote their facebook page “love playing music and just want to play shows as regularly as possible.” On the strength of the EP, I really hope they get what they want. With a heavy sound mixed with some good rhythm pieces they don’t come at you like a messy wall of noise, but still hit with enough punch to crack a few ribs yet still leave a smile on your face.

Glasgow people are kind of fucked up like that.
