Southend, to me, is famed only for once having its beach front wash up and down while the sea stayed steady as a rock. And one of the witnesses turning into a penguin while his friend rapidly runs out of limbs. Geek points for spotting the reference.
It is also the home of today’s NBotD, Dishonor (UK) – a doom/death outfit who have been going for… ooooh… five months! They already have an EP available and play live regularly so they’re obviously putting the effort in.
If you do check it out, give all four tracks a chance. I found opener “Bleak” a little slow to get going. It’s definitely an intro track, setting things up – but the other three are just better listening IMHO.
As ever, there’s a bit more info about them on facebook. Nothing on the YouTubes as yet, so here’s a link to that EP on SoundCloud (which I still can’t embed despite WordPress telling me how easy it is).
[update] I didn’t realise this when I wrote the rest of the post, but the oldest member of the band is currently seventeen. People, bands like this – kids rocking shit up – are the future of our music. Really, seriously, check them out. If you live near them and think they’re even remotely good – go and see them live. Give them support, encourage them.
