I must admit that I am not familiar with the name Deedra Patrick, but she has an interesting blues edge to her vocals.
This particular song, Christmas is Calling You, has a country blues feel to it, largely because of the excellent lap steel guitar from Kyle Appleton. But it is a Christmas song, so there are also clanging bells and jingle bells.
This is a new song, written by Deedra herself, where she is looking back to previous Christmases and remembering what is missing. For example, the opening lines are: “We all miss the days when grandma was here, around the Christmas tree, every year.” But despite the sadness of Christmas past, the chorus assures us that, “Christmas is calling you, all year through”. She remembers the joy Christmas brings, the smile on children’s faces and  the “Feeling that Christmas brings… Light love and hope.” So there is sadness (well it is country blues) but there is also hope.
