Well-known alternative rock four-piece, and former Band of the Day, Nightblade return with a splendid follow-up to last year’s album, Ignorance Bliss. The hugely productive rockers release their stunning new album, Unknown Territories, on Friday. Ahead of its release, we asked the band to give us this exclusive track by track breakdown of the record:
1: “Wake Up”
This song is an attempt for the nation and indeed the world to realise what is going on with the world politically. The most important things happening in the world are either glossed over or not even covered by the mainstream media.
2: “Unknown Territories” [youtube]
The album’s title track is about revisiting a place where you once lived, and the changes and differences compared to how it used to be. A different feel and atmosphere make it decidedly eerie. A feeling of almost invading one’s space and how you long to see it as it was, and indeed should be.
3: “Apparition”
After watching so many paranormal programmes, it seemed like a great inspiration for a song. The track takes you through the experience of walking through a haunted house and the events which come with that.
4: “Feeding The Reel”
This track relates to all the people in the world who try to take you for a ride. Some people deliberately prey on the vulnerable to extort money, favours and other pre-requisites. Some people will stop at nothing to get what they want.

5. “Weathering The Storm”
“Weathering The Storm” is about battling your way through bad situations, which everyone has to endure once in a while. As recent times has taught us, some situations can result in anxiety and mental trauma. Just getting through, day by day, requires all your strength.
6. “Son Of A Fallen Man”
This song is about the son of an ex-criminal trying to disguise who his father was in order to live his life. He isn’t quite sure who knows about his father’s chequered past and pleads ignorant when asked. He is far from proud of his father’s past.
7: “What’s Your Name?” – [youtube]
Our recent single refers to a person that thinks they know it all and refuses to listen to anyone else. Everybody else can see that they need to stop and learn. Instead, they think they are the ultimate knowledge and preach to everyone however bad their advice is.
8: “Here’s To You”
A track about a personal loss and a special bond and relationship. Looking back, reviewing it and remembering the special moments and how important the relationship was, and what it meant to you. A friendship and bond never to be forgotten.
9: “No Part Of It”
This one is about an individual who hangs out with the wrong crowd and gets involved with drugs and illegal activities. When found out, they can’t comprehend how they got involved, and beat themselves up for being so stupid in the first place

10: “I See The Best In Everyone”
Is about the expectation from a person and what one perceives are the best attributes. No matter how wayward a person seems, some people always see the best in everyone.
11: “One Last Chance”
The last track on the album refers to running out of time and trying to achieve results. Some people are very driven and time conscious. This is about scoring points and getting results without anything standing in your way.
