GIK Acoustics - Europe
GIK Acoustics - Europe
The Moshville Times

James “Jim” Costin (Senior Editor)

I’m Jim and I’m a bit of a fan of something called music. I’ve interviewed more people than I can count and as a result have formed some excellent friendships with both musicians and fans alike. Outside of Moshville, I work for an archive digitizing things. You’ll either find me in the crowd having a fun time and chatting to folk or scuttling around a photo pit…

From: Preston (Lancashire)

Currently based:  York (City of)

Preferred genres: Something with a good melody and singer. But not the mass-produced pop that’s churned out these days. Not a fan. If you really push me though, I’ll say I listen to “bulldozing punishing death metal”.

Favourite bands (No Order): Opeth, Aborted, Decapitated, Nightingale(The Dan Swano version) Wolfheart, Insomnium, Omnium Gatherum, Persefone, Cannibal Corpse, Meshuggah, Autopsy, Gojira, Fear Factory, Deserted Fear, Kreator, Enslaved.

Favourite albums (No Order): Meshuggah – Obzen, Nightingale – Nightfall Overture, Opeth – Blackwater Park, Wolfheart – Winterborn, Insomnium – Winters Gate, Deserted Fear – Dead Shores Rising, Cannibal Corpse – Kill, Enslaved – Ruun, Kreator – Phantom Antichrist, Witherscape – The Northern Sanctuary

Most embarrassing album owned: I’m not embarrassed by my music collection. Whilst it does contain a few things outside the scope of ‘metal’ I enjoy it all. There’s no album that I own that I don’t enjoy.

Favourite venues: Audio, QMU, Classic Grand, The Grand (Clitheroe), O2 ABC- Glasgow, O2 Islington- London.

First gig: Sassoon and Bentley – The Grand Clitheroe. I love a good bit of jazz.

Favourite gig: Toss up between Skuggsjá / Enslaved / Wardruna at The Coronet Theatre (19/03/16), Persefone / Poem at The Underworld (16/04/17) and Dream Theater at the Royal Concert Hall (20/04/17).

Favourite drink: Water, Appletizer, San Pellogrino Orange, Ice Cold Beer (any variety).

Favourite food: Anything that doesn’t contain mushrooms and cauliflower. I can’t stand them.
