Investment banker by day and reviewer of metal gigs by night… not quite the sentence you were probably expecting to read. I’m interested in current affairs, travelling the world and hearing new sounds! When I do get the time I like to pick up my guitar and occasionally make noise in progressive pop punk band ‘Small Pond Big Fish’.
From: London, UK.
Preferred genres: Progressive metal, alt rock, metalcore, pop punk, alt pop, R&B.
5 Favourite bands: Periphery, TesseracT, You Me At Six, Northlane, Polyphia.
5 Favourite albums: Altered State – TesseracT, Periphery II – Periphery, Colors – Between the Buried and Me, Geography – Tom Misch, Room for Squares – John Mayer.
Most embarrassing album owned: Beautiful World – Take That. It was the first album I purchased, not quite sure what possessed younger me… Maybe I wanted to be like Gary Barlow?
Favourite venues: Electric Ballroom – London, Thekla – Bristol, O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire – London.
First gig: The first gig I paid for (saving for it in coins!) was to watch Dream Theatre & Periphery at the Wembley Arena in 2012. The difference in fanbases of the two bands was quite stark. Managed to bump into Periphery’s vocalist during the interval who came to say hi to fans that were there for them. The next time I saw them, they were in a venue much much smaller in size…
Favourite gig: Periphery / Veil of Maya / Good Tiger – Koko, London – 19th November 2015. As you can probably tell by now, Periphery are my favourite band, and this gig featured two other bands I’m really into. Periphery’s set featured a whole list of my favourites and was one of the longest out of their London shows! I got to meet a few of the members of two of the bands and during the opening band’s set the vocalist came and serenaded a whole track to my friends and I! Never going to forget that one.
Favourite drink: A glass of a good Spanish red.
Favourite food: Pizza or a spicy curry.
