Gilson at Imperative has been pushing smaller, unsigned acts for years now. One way he does this is to release CD samples crammed with songs from acts all over the world which he sends out to magazines, record labels and clubs worldwide. A couple of discs ago, he upgraded to DVDs so that bands’ videos are also shared around – the latest of these is Volume XIV.
Crammed onto this little silver platter are forty tracks, including some bands you may have heard of. In recent months, Gilson’s managed to get larger names to lend their weight to this project. This time around Kreator (“Satan is Real”) and Obituary (“Sentence Day”) lead the “known” acts. Brazil’s Armored Dawn are also up front and centre with “Sail Away”.
The full list of bands is as follows, and I’m not going through every one of the songs!
ARMORED DAWN (Brazil), KREATOR (Germany), OBITUARY (U.S.), NOVEMBERS DOOM (U.S.), SURVIVE (Japan), CROMATHIA (Brazil), HETEROGENEOUS ANDEAD (Japan), DEATHTALE (Austria), NIGHTQUEEN (Belgium), INNER CALL (Brazil), TRECELENCE (U.S.), ATLÂNTIDA ON DEMAND (Portugal), METASPHERICAL (Canada), BREAKOUT (Sweden), KARYTTAH (Brazil), NEOGENESE (Brazil), XAKOL (Brazil), AMETHYST (Costa Rica), SHADOWHISPERS (Luxemburg), PRIOR THE END (Germany), DOGFRIES (France), THE UNDEAD MANZ (Brazil), BOMBSCARE (U.S.), WINTERHEARTH (Canada), CADAVER DISPOSAL (Germany), EXPULSION (U.S.), MIYAMA-GT (Japan), CORE DIVIDER (Brazil), COSMIC RUIN (U.S.), TORTURIZER (Brazil), APOPHANOUS (Brazil), THEGENERATIONS ARMY (Sweden), ONE STEP TO FALL (Portugal), ENEMY I (Germany), NUMBNESS (Brazil), STONERIA (Brazil), CHAD FREY (U.S.), SNAKEBONES (Austria), RISINGFALL (Japan)
As you can see, the acts span pretty much every genre, making for a very enjoyable couple of hours’ listening if your tastes are as varied as mine.
The DVD front end is well put together, though because the videos and MP3s are played in your PC’s default software, the DVDs menu music continues in the background if you don’t pause it. Of course, you can just navigate through explorer and find them directly – they all have nice, sensible filenames!
Details are included on each band as a PDF file, so if you like them then it’s easy enough to get to them – which is what this kind of thing is all about.
If your band is interested in being on Volume XV, due in April, then head to Imperative’s website. You could be joining Hammerfall, Cradle of Filth, Death and Destruction!
