Saturday Video Roundup: Underdog Champs, One Last Shot, Mallory Knox, The Hyena Kill

The weekends aren’t long enough, are they? Here’s a couple of tracks that I’m sure will fly past and make it seem to go by even faster!

Underdog Champs – “Hear Me Out”

Having played a countless number of shows on the East coast US, Underdog Champs are looking to expand, giving listeners a slick combination of catchy pop/rock hooks and powerful lyrics. The band will be embarking on a promotional tour for Skeletons in Daylight in early March to coincide with its release.

One Last Shot – “Leather & Fangs”

Horror-infused screamo band One Last Shot from Syracuse, NY has debuted the new music video for their single “Leather & Fangs”. The video starts with a nostalgic introduction from Steven Smith of FUSE’s Steven’s Untitled Rock Show and then showcases a performance from the band at the haunted Landmark Theater in NY.

The single comes from the band’s upcoming album The Death of a Poet & All of His Friends, which will be released independently on March 31st.

Mallory Knox – “Better Off Without You”

Mallory Knox reveal the video for their new single “Better Off Without You”, the second to be lifted from their forthcoming third album Wired, released March 10th on RCA.

Written about the prescription drug Citalopram, used to treat anxiety and depression, “Better Off Without You” was borne out of bassist Sam Douglas’ frustration towards a doctor who took a particularly lax approach to his treatment. The dark, unnerving video follows a patient held at the mercy of a team of crooked doctors, forced through intense chemical tests against his will. The cold, clinical tone mirrors the intense feeling of helplessness associated with anxiety; this, matched with a characteristically fiery performance from the band, creates perhaps their most emotive, thought-provoking video to date.

The Hyena Kill – “Tongue Tied”

Manchester duo The Hyena Kill have revealed the video for their new single “Tongue Tied” which is out today on all good digital platforms. The band also recently announced two headline shows – Sat 29th April at Nottingham Bodega and Sun 30th April at Manchester Academy 3.

Featuring raw and ready artwork from Yorkshire illustrator Ben Tallon and a typically explosive live performance from the duo, the video was directed by London-based film maker Ben Ogunbiyi.
