Monday Video Roundup: SHVPES, Athanasia, Black Star Riders, Kreator

It’s still Monday! Just! Been a busy day and this is my first time at the keyboard since yesterday. And you know how I don’t like to let you people down…

SHVPES – “Pain. Joy. Ecstasy. Despair.”

SHVPES have revealed an explosive (literally) new video for album title-track, “Pain. Joy. Ecstasy. Despair.” Says SHVPES vocalist, Griffin Dickinson:

As the title-track to our debut album, we wanted the video to tie everything we’ve been working on together and really bring the album artwork to life. From the 1920’s apothecary style aesthetic to us physically drinking from the bottles on the artwork I think we’ve managed to do just that. Throughout the video you see the band sat round a table, blindfolded, playing Russian roulette with bottles marked ‘Pain’, ‘Joy’, ‘Ecstasy’ and ‘Despair’. “Pain. Joy. Ecstasy. Despair” represents the emotional circle of life, it’s a statement of acceptance that we live in complete chaos and no one knows what’s coming next.

We had such a great time shooting this vid because it’s just metal as fuck. I thought I was on fire after every take, but the important thing is that I wasn’t. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

SHVPES will support Trivium on their 33-date European tour early this year.

Athanasia – “The Order of the Silver Compass”

Los Angeles based metal band Athanasia has released the official music video for the lead single off their upcoming debut album, The Order Of The Silver Compass. This is the second music video release from the album, following the critically acclaimed “Spoils Of War”. “The Order Of The Silver Compass” was directed by renowned filmmaker Matt Zane and filmed at Modern Sector Studios in Burbank, CA.

Black Star Riders – “Heavy Fire”

U.S./Irish hard rockers Black Star Riders are set to release their hotly-anticipated third album Heavy Fire on the 3rd of February via Nuclear Blast Entertainment. Today, the band premiere the new lyric video for “Heavy Fire”, the album’s thundering opening track. Lead vocalist/guitarist Ricky Warwick explains about the song:

Only fools would believe that rock n roll can rejuvenate a world in the throes of a collapsing civilisation that’s coming under heavy fire from all asunder. But what if the would-be fools are right?

Kreator – “Fallen Brother”

German thrash titans Kreator have released the official music video for the song “Fallen Brother” from their newly released album Gods Of Violence. The song features Swiss singer/songwriter Dagobert and pays respect to fallen music icons such as Lemmy, Peter Steele, Prince, David Bowie, Michael Trengert, Bon Scott among others.
