Wednesday Video Roundup: Pain, No Sinner, Vexxes, Jake and the Jellyfish

More than halfway through the week for teaching staff around here as we “only” have one of those in-service days on Friday where we sit around eating doughnuts and talking about last night’s TV. Take out your frustration by listening to a couple of these little ditties…

Pain – “Designed To Piss You Off”

An aptly names starter, and from one of the our highlight albums this year. Both Mel and I have raved about Coming Home and it’s well worth picking up, even if just to hear Sabaton’s Joakim singing about hookers.

No Sinner – “All Woman”

No Sinner kicked off their European tour yesterday, and will be hitting the UK/IRE for four dates from October 25th. Like what you see below? Go see ’em:

  • Tues 25th October – Borderline, London
  • Weds 26th October – Night & Day, Manchester
  • Thurs 27th October – King Tuts Wah Wah Hut, Glasgow
  • Friday 29th October – Sin E, Dublin

Vexxes – “Enemies”

From their debut EP, Common Ground, Vexxes have just released this video. The band have this to say about the track:

There’s definitely an anthemic feel to Enemies, it was a chorus that stuck in all of our heads whilst writing it (Max literally woke up humming the tune). The counter-melody in the final chorus; ‘this is the last time you get the best of me’, creates a kind of resolution to the track, and the conflicts addressed by the EP as a whole.

The song is about the self doubt you feel when it appears everybody is out to get you. Ultimately the only way to overcome things like that are to address them head on, as the lyrics suggest.

Jake and the Jellyfish – “Killing Time”

A high-tempo, bouncy little number to calm you all down.

Jake And The Jellyfish, the folk/punk/rock quartet from Leeds UK have shared their new music video for “Killing Time” and US tour dates, leading up to an appearance at The Fest in Gainesville, Florida. Speaking on the new video and dates, vocalist/guitarist, Jake said:

We can’t wait to head back over to Florida to play FEST again. There are so many great bands and great people every year. The atmosphere is quite different from UK festivals with it taking over an entire town. It’s incredibly friendly, positive and accepting and we’re really excited to be back – this time with a few more shows too!
