Abraxas (FR) – new video

France’s Abraxas (as opposed to the similarly named band from India) is composed of four childhood friends, who learnt to play and to create a whole musical universe together. This universe is not easy to defined, so far their influences are multiple: Pink Floyd, King Crimson in the register of 70’s but also Metronomy, Late Of The Pier or Connan Mockasin in the contemporary register. This group has no precise style, we could speak about pop, of new wave, synth pop or even nu-rave but for them it is about a new style: the “protodancepop”, characterized above all by a lightning energy. Every piece leaves in all directions, it is a profusion of sounds with unexpected, surprising and exciting melodies.

Their first EP Totem, released in February 2015, is a good sample of their madness and their music with drawers, we cannot refrain from taping our feet. In their psychedelic and disco world, they take you every time towards a different destination.
