At around 4.30pm on Thursday 3 November, an army of Harley Davidsons lined St Martin’s Lane revving their engines, prompting a street-full of baffled tourists and office workers to stop in their tracks and try to work out what was going on.
Today tickets went on sale for Jim Steinman’s Bat Out Of Hell musical (due to take up residency at the Manchester Opera House and London Coliseum in 2017) and to celebrate there was to be a special cast performance on the back of a truck outside the famous London venue. The show features many of Meat Loaf’s greatest hits including “I’d Do Anything for Love”, “Paradise by the Dashboard Light”, “You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth (Hot Summer Night)”, “Dead Ringer For Love”, “Two Out of Three Ain’t Bad” and “Bat Out of Hell”.
The special guest overseeing proceedings was of course the mighty Meat Loaf, whose presence generated rapturous applause throughout the packed London street.
Cast members performed a select few tracks from the musical with enthusiasm and excitement, which was warmly received by the crowd.
Afterwards there was a drinks reception nearby, but we can’t tell you much about that… apart from the fact that there was free beer and very tasty canapés!
