[avatar user=”Katie” size=”50″ align=”left” /]Motionless In White were intending to bring their ‘Beyond The Barricade’ tour to the UK and Ireland in December 2015, but the dates were postponed in the wake of the attacks in Paris. The shows were rescheduled for January 2016 so I went along to check them out, and managed to nab an interview with Nikki Misery from main support band New Years Day.

As you approached the venue you could see huge queue snaking around the venue. Once inside we didn’t have to wait long for the show to start as Coventry-based post-hardcore band Silent Screams took to the stage shortly after doors opened and blasted a powerful and heavy set to an already packed room.

Main support were US “Haunted Mansioncore” band New Years Day who launched into their energetic set with “Kill Or Be Killed” from their recently-released album Malevolence. Ashley Costello battled on despite some technical issues with her wireless mic, and the band delivered a high-energy set to a sea of delighted fans. As well show-casing tracks from Malevolence the band dipped into their Epidemic EP and had the crowd screamed along to the title track with chants of “we’re so, we’re so contagious”. They were later joined on stage by Chris Motionless for a theatrical performance of “Angel Eyes”.

At the refreshingly early time of 8pm Motionless In White took to the stage with their trademark extravagance. The energy in the room was palpable; from both the band and the crowd. With a set-list consisting in the main-part of songs from their 2014 release Reincarnate, the US gothic metal-core band put on a fantastic show and left the packed venue wanting more.

Their eagerly-awaited fourth studio album is set for release some time this year.

Motionless In White conclude their ‘Beyond The Barricade’ UK / Ireland tour on 27 January in Southampton.
